The opening ceremony of the training took place on January 9, 2023, at the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) conference room and was graced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, and Consultancy), Prof. Maulid Mwatawala, who stood on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Mwatawala emphasized that the university’s management is committed to creating a conducive working environment for academic staff to carry out their responsibilities seamlessly while on campus. Therefore, the training was seen as instrumental in enabling the participants to address various challenges they may encounter during their tenure at the university.
Additionally, Prof. Gration Rwegasira, the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, highlighted the significance of this training for the newly employed staff, as it would enable them to deliver their duties with the required level of excellence. The Quality Assurance Unit, operating under the office of the Vice-Chancellor, plays a crucial role in ensuring that all services offered by the university meet the expected standards of quality.
“We aim for SUA to maintain its reputation as an excellent university that upholds ethical values and adapts to current and future technologies. We want our SUA graduates to possess the necessary qualities demanded in the global arena,” stated Prof. Rwegasira.
The comprehensive training program, spanning five days, covered various aspects, including administrative matters, catering to students and staff with special needs, SUA policies and regulations, as well as information technology-related topics.
