Biography
I am a lecturer in geography at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). I am currently pursuing PhD studies at SUA. My study focuses on the assessment of the factors influencing the invasiveness of an invasive species Prosopis juliflora and the impact of P. juliflora invasion on soil health and livelihood activities of communities adjacent to Nyumba ya Mungu Dam in northern Tanzania. My study interests span from the intersections between natural resources and livelihoods to conflicts emanating from these intersections. In terms of hobbies, I spend my leisure time watching football and jogging. My major talent is academic writing. Since the commencement of my PhD studies, I have achieved the following academically: 1) presented the concept note before the panel, 2) carried reconnaissance survey to the study area, 3) presented the full proposal to the supervisors, and 4) scheduled to present the full proposal in mid-August, 2023. My personal mission statement is to treat others how I want to be treated.

HEET Project Scholarship
The HEET Project Scholarship aims to address the challenges of securing funding for studies for the university academic staff. This scholarship scheme is geared towards ensuring that staff academic development goes in tandem with the Universities’ academic plans, and also aims to halt the previous inherent donor/funder vested interests characteristic of most international scholarship offers especially for developing countries. The HEET scholarship I have received has enabled me to pursue my PhD studies with less financial stress. The PhD award from this study will improve my academic role at SUA in particular and Tanzanian community at large. In terms of academic personal goals, the HEET Scholarship I received will help me achieve the academic excellence that I am striving for. So far, I have never participated in any HEET Project activities or events.
Plans for Future
My future career aspiration is to use the knowledge acquired from my PhD studies to improve my academic performance at SUA and Tanzania at large. The acquired education will improve my consultancy and outreach activities to the Tanzanian community.
Giving Credit and Expressing Gratitude
I greatly thank the World Bank, the HEET Scholarship and the Government of Tanzania for their unselfish contribution to my education. It has been an interesting first half of the first year in a long journey of four years of academic pursuance. To say the least, this scholarship will go a long way in helping me out. The financial burden of the next three and half years has been reduced significantly. When I graduate, I am going to extend the same help that I have received to others. This is very important for all of us and the future generations that are coming up. Thank you again for spreading hope and altruistic contributions to education for me and others.
