My brief introduction:
My name is Pendo Mwakililo, and I am privileged to serve as an employee at Sokoine University of Agriculture, specifically in the School of Education within the Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling. As a dedicated professional, I have embraced the role of a lecturer, where I have the opportunity to impart knowledge and insights in the field of educational psychology and counselling to eager minds. My journey in academia has led me to pursue continuous growth, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the esteemed University of Dar es Salaam, a pursuit I embarked upon during the 2021/2022 academic year. This academic voyage allows me to combine practical experience with theoretical exploration, enhancing my ability to contribute meaningfully to the realms of education and psychology.
My interests, hobbies and talents:
Outside of work, I have a range of interests and hobbies. Cooking is a passion of mine, allowing me to express creativity through flavors. Singing and music hold a special place in my heart, and I find comfort in moments of worship. Traveling is another love of mine, as it exposes me to new cultures and experiences.
Moreover, I possess a talent for persuasion, using this skill to positively influence and motivate others. I value simplicity and the beauty of life’s various facets, and I strive to continue growing as an individual.
My achievements (academic, extracurricular or professional):
Within the dynamic environment of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), I’ve had the privilege to attain significant achievements that resonate with both academic and professional spheres. My academic journey at SUA has been marked by consistent excellence, a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of learning and innovation. Notably, my engagement with SUA’s School of Education and its Department of Educational Psychology and Counselling has provided me with a platform to thrive as an educator and a scholar.

As a part of this vibrant community, I’ve extended my influence through active involvement in extracurricular activities. Notably, I’ve mentored and supported students, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth that aligns with SUA’s values, and engaged in counselling activities to students and community members around.

I’ve achieved the milestone of publishing multiple journal papers and conference papers, a testament to my dedication to scholarly research and the dissemination of knowledge. The HEET Project Scholarship has been a pivotal support in my academic journey since the 2021/2022 academic year, enabling me to pursue my Ph.D. studies with dedicated focus and excellence. This scholarship has provided comprehensive financial support, covering my tuition fees for the past two years and four semesters of stipends. In addition to their generous contributions, the HEET Project Scholarship has also extended their supportthrough transport allowances. I am hopeful that the HEET Project Scholarship will continue to stand by me, providing invaluable support in the remaining years of my studies.
In addition to the substantial financial backing, the scholarship has demonstrated its commitment to fostering quality research by granting me a research allowance of 12,000,000 Tsh. This initial provision showcases the HEET Project’s dedication to enabling robust academic exploration and contributes to my ongoing research pursuits. As we navigate the ongoing journey, I am hopeful that the remaining research allowance will be disbursed after the resolution of guideline issues with the Ministry of Education, as discussed earlier. This crucial step is a testament to the HEET Project Scholarship’s diligence in ensuring the seamless continuation of my research pursuits. I eagerly await the resolution of this concern and the subsequent disbursement.

I have currently not been able to participate in any HEET Project activities or events; I was invited to participate in an activity focused on gender issues in the workplace. Regrettably, I was unable to attend due to a commitment at my hosting university, where I was in the process of presenting my Ph.D. proposal.
My future career aspirations
My future career aspirations are firmly rooted in the realm of education and research. Building on my extensive academic journey, I envision myself continuing to contribute to the field of educational psychology and counseling. I am committed to nurturing the next generation of educators by imparting knowledge, mentoring students, and creating dynamic learning environments that empower them to succeed.
Furthermore, I am resolute in pursuing an active role in research. I aspire to conduct indepth studies that address crucial challenges within the education system.
