Prof. Raphael Tihelwa Chibunda

Vice Chancellor

Prof. Raphael Tihelwa Chibunda serves as the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to evidence-based research, policy formulation, and strategy facilitation. Prof. Chibunda’s expertise lies in conceptualizing and generating policies, strategies, and program designs, with a particular emphasis on Science, Technology and Innovation, Research and Development, Systems of Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Institutional Innovation.

In relation to the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project, Prof. Chibunda’s leadership has been instrumental in ensuring that the project aligns with the university’s vision and mission. His experience in policy implementation and strategy facilitation has been critical in bridging the gap between academic programs and the demands of the current and future labor market. Under his guidance, SUA is confident in producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also equipped to meet the dynamic needs of the workforce.

Prof. Maulid Mwatawala

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, and Consultancy)

Prof. Maulid Mwatawala is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, and Consultancy) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in this role, he is the principal assistant to the Vice Chancellor, responsible for overseeing all matters related to Academics, Research, and Consultancy.

With a diverse background as an agricultural entomologist and a registered Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, Prof. Mwatawala brings a unique blend of expertise to his role. He is characterized by his result-oriented approach, self-motivation, and dedication to teamwork.

His leadership and diverse expertise ensure that academic programs, research initiatives, and consultancy projects at SUA are of the highest quality, aligning with the institution’s goals and the broader objectives of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project.

Prof. Amandus P. Muhairwa

Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance & HEET Project Coordinator

Prof. Amandus P. Muhairwa serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). In this role, he is the principal assistant to the Vice Chancellor, responsible for overseeing all administrative and financial matters at the university, including the management of funds and other assets.

Prof. Muhairwa’s responsibilities extend to the coordination of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project.

As the HEET Project Coordinator, he plays a crucial role in ensuring that the project’s objectives are met, particularly in areas related to financial oversight and administrative support. Dr. Winfred Mbungu

Deputy Project Coordinator

Dr. Winfred Mbungu serves as a Deputy Project Coordinator of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project.

Dr. Mbungu is a Senior Lecturer specializing in Land and Water Resources Engineering at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). With a deep understanding of the intricacies of land and water management, he has contributed significantly to the academic community through his teachings and research.

In addition to his academic role, Dr. Mbungu serves as the Deputy Project Coordinator for the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project at SUA. His involvement ensures that the project’s objectives are effectively pursued, complementing the efforts of the main coordinator and ensuring that the project’s milestones are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.

Project Assistant
